Anatomy Of A 5-Star Performer (Part I)

So in trying to analyze what characteristics our 5-star performers have in common which make them successful on GigMasters, I've noticed some interesting stats. Here’s a quick rundown:

  • 64% of 5-star performers always pay the booking fee on behalf on clients.
  • 78% of 5-star performers accept online deposits.
  • 66% of 5-star performers have video in their press kits.

What’s interesting if you compare this to our 3-star performers.

  • Only 37% of 3-star performers pay the booking fee on behalf on clients.
  • Only 42% of 3-star performers accept online deposits.
  • Only 45% of 3-star performers have video in their press kits.

And the trends get even more exaggerated if you look at our 1 star performers.

  • Only 17% of 1-star performers pay the booking fee on behalf on clients.
  • Only 15% of 1-star performers accept online deposits.
  • Only 28% of 1-star performers have video in their press kits.

Another interesting statistic to look at is the length of a performer’s description in their GigMasters press kit. 5-star performers have longer descriptions. In fact they average about 500 more characters (approx 80 more words) than 3-star performers.

GigMasters Rating vs Length of Press Kit Description (in characters)

1.0 = 1,167

2.5 = 1,131

3.0 = 1,251

3.5 = 1,309

4.0 = 1,578

4.5 = 1,490

5.0 = 1,796

What’s the morale of this story? Always pay the fee on behalf of your clients. Make sure you enable online deposits. Both of these will make life much easier for your clients when its time to book you.

Also, make sure you have video in your press kits. If you’re having any trouble uploading, or if you’re not sure how to get it from YouTube to GigMasters, we’re happy to help.

And make sure you have a well written description that’s not too short. About 300 words seems best. Follow these step and you could be on the road to becoming a 5-star performer in no time (if you're not one already)!

Next month, I’ll continue with part 2 of "Anatomy Of A 5-Star Performer" where I’ll look at other factors including optimal number of client feedbacks, number of past and upcoming appearances, and number of categories just to name a few. Stay tuned!
